Kennel: Springcurl
I have owned, worked, shown and handled a number of breeds ranging from English Toy terrier to Great Dane. My main breeds have been Dobermann, Curly Coated Retrievers and Sussex Spaniels. I have made up champions in all three breeds.
In CCR’s I have owned/bred: 6 UK champions, 6 Irish champions, 2 International champions and 4 European champions.
In the UK, 10 dogs from Springcurl have gained their working certificates.
Some of the highlights of showing Springcurl CCR have been winning Cruft’s dog CC and Best of Breed with SH CH Ir Sh Ch Springcurl Rigoletto in 2009, the Cruft’s dog CC with the co-owned, Ir SH CH Am Ch Landaracurl Royal Warrant on 2010 and Cruft’s bitch CC and Best of Breed with Springcurl Gold Strike in 2014 (handled by Charlotte Hunt).
Sh Ch Ir Sh CH Springcurl Rigoletto JW ShCM has been top male in the breed (UK) and top stud dog for the breed for three years.
His dam, Ch Ir Ch Swe. Ch Springcurl Peace of Mind was the first CCR to travel from the UK and gain a European title.
Sh Ch Springcurl Seren with Kilima JW was one of the youngest female champions and was top bitch in CCR (UK).
To date the kennels have won 64 Challenge Certificates.
I began my judging career in 1983 and judged CCR for the first time in 1996. I was honoured to award my first set of CC’s in CCR in 2007 and from then have awarded CC’s in the breed on four occasions.
I was delighted to be asked to judge the Finnish CCR Club show and had a wonderful entry of high quality CCR. I have also had an enjoyable time judging CCR in Germany where again, there were some excellent exhibits.
I also award CC’s in Dobermanns where I have awarded CC’s at the Dobermann of the Year championship show for the Breed Council and at general championship shows. I am on the judging lists for Welsh Springer spaniels, Sussex spaniels, English Springer spaniels, Bracco Italiano and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.
I have successfully worked dogs in Working Trials, Gundog tests, on shoots and in Obedience competitions. I have also run my own training club. I have been an active committee member on a number of dog shows including CCR (UK).
Needless to say, I am very excited about the judging appointment in Prague and looking forward to seeing some quality curly coated retrievers.
